A dog with pneumonia can be a challenge in an ER setting. Balancing diagnostics and treatment in the face of hypoxia can be stressful. Using an algorithmic approach can give the ER doctor guidelines to approach, test and treat these cases as well as provide the client with better prognostic and financial information. This checklist style of providing care allows the ER doctor to quickly provide high level care.
