Treatment of neonatal foals can be a daunting thought for
some. This series will describe practical tips to efficiently examine, diagnose,
and treat neonatal foals in an ambulatory setting. One will learn techniques for
restraint and clues from the exam that give one an indication of illness. A
thorough ultrasound of the neonate will be explored as well as other field
diagnostics. Modalities will be discussed to perform rapid intervention and
appropriate treatment for ill neonates in the field.
This session originally was presented at AVMA Convention 2025 in conjunction
