Many veterinary career paths are forged by veterinarians
and veterinary technicians with outstanding non-clinical skill sets. Building
these non-clinical skill sets and qualifications takes time and determination,
and may be enhanced by self-reflection, mentorship, sponsorship and
experimentation. This session will explore how veterinarians in non-clinical
career paths built their knowledge base, skill sets and networks. Areas such as
project management, public speaking and presentations, policy management,
marketing, and professional association volunteerism and leadership will be discussed.
This session originally was presented at AVMA Convention 2026.
