This course provides an overview of the bovid and small
ruminant chapters (sheep, goats, camelids and cervids) of the AVMA Guidelines
for the Depopulation of Animals (2026 edition),
with an emphasis on humane, evidence-based decision-making during emergency depopulation events. Participants
are first introduced to the tiered classification system used
to evaluate method appropriateness, followed by species-specific guidance.
In addition to reviewing depopulation methods, highlights include key planning
considerations such as biosecurity, regulatory compliance, and human safety.
